Status : Final Draft. The Framework was a meeting agenda item for the Education Committee on 11 October 2007.

The Educational Technology Framework provides a conceptual vision to guide the governance, policy and practice needs for educational technology (ET) at Monash University. Underlying the Framework is a vision of a learning experience enriched by ubiquitous and integrated access to a range of educational technologies. The Framework draws on Monash Directions 2025, related strategic documentation and the views of Monash’s academic and professional community.

• encourage the creative interest and enthusiasm of staff in exploring rapidly developing educational technologies within the context of Monash University;
• provide a list of recommendations to guide governance, policy and implementation in educational technology development for Monash University;
• identify current and emerging requirements for educational technology within the network of Monash campuses;
• outline how innovation in teaching and learning using educational technology can be encouraged; and
• inform an implementation plan for the deployment of technologies through the faculties and campuses of Monash.

Education Support Strategic Roadmap (PDF 118Kb)

This document provides a roadmap to deliver the future support environment for Education at Monash University. The roadmap reviews needs over a five year time frame, with specific milestones, investment and outcomes over the next three years (2008-2010). It incorporates pedagogical, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and other services that together provide an enriched environment in support of Education.

An investment programme of $13.4 million over three years will provide improved support for the following activities:

• Flexible learning and teaching spaces
• Portal and MUSO suite
• Collaboration support
• MULO (lectures online)
• Educator support
• eTeaching and innovation support

The roadmap provides a consolidated direction for strategic planning across CALT, ITS, the Library, Facilities and Services and other support areas in implementing an improved educational environment as expressed in the Educational Technology Framework. The framework itself draws on the university’s Education and International Plans; the strategic directions outlined in Excellence and Diversity and Monash 2025; and Faculty strategic plans to describe the university’s preferred approach.
