Simulated and virtual environmentsClinical Simulated ScenariosThe Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science is working with external health care venues, to produce simulated scenarios to be used in the learning and teaching of clinical skills. These external health care venues include areas such as clinical emergency departments, intensive care units, surgical wards, emergency ambulances, rehabilitation facilities and community health care centres.Contact : Mr Brett Williams, +61 3 990 44283 PharmatopiaIncreasing student numbers, the changing nature of the pharmacy profession and a desire to decrease teaching loads are all factors that have focussed attention on tabletting practicals in the B. Pharm. degree in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. In this pilot project, the staff trialled the use of a VIRTUAL tabletting laboratory. Using a virtual lab has allowed rethinking of the learning outcomes associated with tabletting practicals. This project is also an example of successful international collaboration between institutions. Students can work at their own pace while still being able to share and join in with the class activity. In teaching how to use the latest software, or using this software for statistical analysis or data presentation the teacher can control any or all of the student computers from anywhere in the laboratory. This novel system now allows us to teach the most up to date methods of image analysis and computing.
