CALT- CHEQ collaborationThe Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CALT) and the Centre for Higher Education Quality (CHEQ) both sit within the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Quality) and are directly linked to the role of the Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor and the Education Plan. Over the past five years, through CHEQ, Monash has built up a range of policies and systems for capturing student data. The tools involved include university-wide Monash Unit Evaluations and the Monash Experience Questionnaire (MEQ) for all current students, which together with the national Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ) and the Graduate Destination Survey (GDS) for graduated students, provide rich sources of data about how students perceive their studies at Monash. In addition data on variables such as student attrition, progress, academic performance and financial data is being brought together through new systems to provide comparative and time series reports. Staff within CALT and CHEQ work with faculties interpreting the data and facilitating continuous improvements by providing strategic and targeted support for learning and teaching. |
