Profile

Education has always been at the centre of my working life. I commenced teaching in secondary schools and later moved into teacher education at the tertiary level. I have held various senior leadership roles in teaching, learning and organisation development working in and with federal, state and local governments, in universities and in community and private enterprises.

My key areas of expertise and experience include leadership in:
  • teaching and workplace education and training;
  • education and capacity building;
  • organisational reform and change management;
  • research and development;
  • strategic planning and policy development;
  • financial and resource management;
  • marketing and communication and
  • quality assurance.
In recent years I returned to the higher education sector and in my current role of Deputy Director of CALT provide leadership for the advancement of excellence in learning and teaching across Monash. This work involves ensuring that the advice and services offered through CALT are informed, strategic, systematic and aligned with the directions and aspirations of Monash and responsive to the needs of students, employees and the wider community.

Curriculum and Resource Development and Publications

In the 1980s-90s I authored, edited and produced numerous curriculum resources and teacher manuals mainly in the areas of health and nutrition, sport and fitness, physical education and leisure and recreation. Examples include:
  • A series of 'Come 'n Try' sports manuals for state-wide Sports Associations through a grant from the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation in Victoria (12 books).
  • 'Huff 'n Puff' a comprehensive physical education curriculum resource for primary schools funded by Victorian Education Department.
  • A series of health and nutrition resource books funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health.
  • A comprehensive environment and leisure curriculum resource 'Out 'n About' funded by the Education Department of Victoria.
