The Project Reference Group members were also an extremely valuable source of encouragement providing feedback and direction at critical times.
The members included:
Professor Graham Webb, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Quality)
Professor David Murphy, former Director of CALT
Associate Professor Leonard Webster, CALT senior staff member
Ms Robyn Harris, former Director, Centre for Higher Education Quality (CHEQ)
Dr Chenicheri (Sid) Nair, Interim Director CHEQ
Mr Ian Bell, Principal, Monash University English Language Centre
Ms Sarah Newton, former Development Manager, Faculty of Education currently Director of Industry Engagement and Commercial, Monash University
A number of critical friends were called upon throughout the project.
Sarah Newton developed the initial Emerging Leadership Framework which was the basis of the original proposal. On several occasions her challenging and insightful critique helped when the project needed further direction and clarity.
Several deans, associate deans (teaching/education), heads of schools, faculty managers and university staff, both academic and general, contributed to the project along the way by providing feedback in formal and informal settings. Often a conversation over coffee, the sharing of a personal experience and story provided an important point for consideration, as did more structured consultation sessions.
Staff at off-shore campuses and two international universities also provided valuable input which helped develop the applications for the ELF. Special acknowledgment to Julian Chan (Monash University Sunway campus in Malaysia) and Chris Orsmond (Monash University South Africa campus) needs to be made for their continual support and for coordinating visits to both these campuses. The project team were also thankful to draw on the expertise of key consultants to leadership development at Monash University - Richard Jones and Larry Marlow. Their generous support and advice on the Engaging Leadership Framework was most appreciated.
