The University Teaching Qualification Committee
Role
The role of the University Teaching Qualification Committee (UTQC) is to
assess applications for recognition of equivalence of qualifications to
the GCHE and to determine points of credit for recognition of prior learning.
The Committee has essentially two options available to it:
- If the new staff member has an accredited teaching qualification
or credentials involving the systematic study of higher education teaching,
the Committee can recognise full equivalence to the GCHE on the basis
of the qualification alone or deem there to be equivalence on the basis
of a combination of qualifications/credentials and recognition of prior
learning.
- If the new staff member does not have an accredited teaching
qualification or credentials involving the systematic study of higher
education teaching, the UTCQ can grant RPL up to a maximum of 12
points of credit towards the GCHE. This is consistent with the general
university policy that a student must complete a minimum number of points
at Monash to receive a Monash award.
Membership
The membership of the University Teaching Qualification Committee consists
of the:
- Dean of Education (chair) (or nominee)
- Divisional Director, Human Resources (or
nominee)
- three Associate Deans (Teaching)
- the Co-ordinator of the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education
